Green Initiatives
When it comes to environmental responsibility, we set very high standards for ourselves. Not just because we’re raising families in the communities that house our facilities. But, because it also makes good business sense.
So, we’re constantly finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint, while enabling customers with technologies that provide them with meaningful eco-advantages.
We began with practical strategies like infusing our design and manufacturing mindset with an eco-priority. To this end, we’ve virtually “designed out” hazardous substances from our design and manufacturing processes. Moreover, at all three of our worldwide manufacturing sites, we use minimal water in our processes. We also activated a sophisticated recycling program to re-use components in our products.
Within our plants, we look for every conceivable way to optimize our operations for efficiencies. We installed state-of-the-art microprocessor-optimized compressed air and air-dryer systems, which reduced our power requirements by 25% when compared to traditional systems. During construction of our San Jose facility, we replaced 90% of the HVAC systems with high-efficiency systems. Then, since we know that lighting accounts for more than 25% of energy use, we installed high-efficiency light sources and shaved 30% off our power consumption. Finally, every cubicle that houses a MicroProbe employee is made from recycled materials.
In 2011, we will work closely with our vendors to ensure that they are also adopting green practices. We prize those that share our commitment to this important endeavor. We will also be exploring optimization of our clean room HEPA filters to reduce our overall energy consumption by a further 5%.
The higher our eco-standards, the better we’re serving our customers and the communities we call home.
